Nature and Scope of Work

Ensure safety of all pool users; teach group and private swim lessons; assist in planning and running special events in the pool; routine maintenance and cleaning of facility; regular checks of water quality and equipment function; provide a safe and welcoming environment for pool
users.

Required Abilities and Skills

Successful candidate must: Knowledge of rules and regulations governing safety in a public pool; the ability to direct emergency response in the pool; ability to learn about pool filtration system; strong interpersonal skills.

Required Training and Experience
National Lifeguard Award (Pool Option); Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor; Standard first aid current within 2 years and CPR 'C' current within 1 year; Pool Operators Level 1 certificate (preferred).

Position Status
Permanent Full Time. The wage is $22.32 to 26.57/hr., depending on qualifications, as per CUPE Collective Agreement, Local 173.
