Position: Lands Manager Maternity Leave Position for 1 Year

Work Hours: 35 hours per week (5 days: Monday to Friday)

Reports to: Splitrock Manager & Sekw’el’was (Cayoose Creek Band) Band Administrator

Job Summary:

The Lands Manager position is a Maternity Leave term position that will end in August 2025. The Lands Manager is responsible for assisting with overseeing all operations of the Sekw’el’was Lands Department under the Reserve Lands & Environment Management Program (RLEMP).

Responsibilities:

  • Land Management under the RLEMP
  • Assisting with Wildlife Field surveys
  • Data collection and data entry on the Cayoose Creek Reserves
  • Data management on Lands drive;
  • Land Use Planning – completing the Land Use Plan for 2025
  • Creating Maps for Reserve Land base
  • Referral and permit management within the reserve land base and areas of responsibility
  • Prepare reports for Chief and Council when requested
  • Attend fisheries & forestry meetings
  • Assist with lands and wildlife project planning and implementation
  • Financial oversight of the Lands budget
  • Work with Sekw’el’was Operations & Maintenance Department
  • Work with Sekw’el’was Housing Department
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A positive attitude, and able to work with others
  • Able to work in varying environmental conditions, a range of temperatures and in Swiftwater
  • Filing experience
  • Experience with data collection
  • Must be able to work with wildlife and fish
  • Has experience with trail cameras
  • Experience working with aboriginal communities, industry and non-profit organizations
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in interactive multidisciplinary team situations.
  • Has experience with computers and is familiar with Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of RLEMP and First Nation land registration and First Nation land administration principles and procedures
  • Understanding of development of legal documents, such as right of way, easements and restrictive covenants under the RLEMP
  • RLEMP Lands Management Training an asset
  • Experience with Arc GIS - GIS Technician Certification an asset;
  • Environmental or Lands Technician Certification an asset
  • First Aid Level One
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Criminal Record Check

Salary Range: $ 35.00 to $ 40.00 per hour depending on qualifications and skills
