Description

The District of Lillooet’s REC Centre Pool is a 6-lane, 25 metre, indoor pool with a diving board and slide. The REC Centre also features an arena, gymnasium, and weight room.

Nature and Scope of Work

As a Lifeguard/Swim instructor you will provide a safe, fun and welcoming environment for users. You will perform routine maintenance such as cleaning change rooms and performing regular checks of water quality and equipment functions. You will be required to teach private, group and school lessons to all ages (mainly children). You will assist with planning and running special event swims such as games days and loonie swims. You must be comfortable with a flexible work schedule and shiftwork and have the ability to work both as a member of a team and unsupervised.

Position Status

This is a permanent, full-time position within CUPE Local 173. The current wage is $23.01 - $27.40 per hour, depending on qualifications. Training costs may be covered for qualified candidates. This position requires the successful completion of a criminal record check.

Required Abilities and Skills

• Knowledge of rules and regulations governing safety in a public pool

• Ability to direct emergency response in the pool • Ability to learn about pool filtration systems

• Strong interpersonal skills

Required Qualifications

• Current National Lifeguard Award (Pool option)

• Current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor

• Standard First Aid or equivalent (current within 2 years)

• CPR “C” with Auto External Defibrillation (current within 1 year)

• Pool Operators Level 1 certificate (preferred)
